I use a standard Teleflex 0-30 lb water pressure gauge. Pressure on the hose should be about 4 lbs at idle and could get to 6 in the water. At WOT 10-15lbs would be normal for an unmodified cooling system.
It is important to realize that these motors use a high volume/low pressure water pump/impeller combination.
