Mercury Black Max 150 year???

Hi guys,

I recently bought a Glastron with a 1980's Black Max 150 outboard, but have had trouble finding the serial number to get the exact year of the engine. It isn't on the engine bracket as suggested. The number on the cast is 1590-8334. Can anyone help me pinpoint the exact year/model with this, or if not what other info do you require???

It is stamped on the engine block where halfs meet right behind timing arm....

Sorry but that part number has too much of a wide variety to help pinpoint a year.

Mercury Mariner 135-225HP Driveshaft Exhaust Housing 8343A 8, 8343A 7, 8343A 9. Part numbers associated with black housing 8343A 7, 8343A7. The cast number 1590-8334 is the same on both. Used on various 135, 150, 175, 200, 220 & 225HP 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, models

Post a pic, Merc decals can help narrow the year down but serial number for parts ordering is really the only way to go.

Just look at block as its stamped in red circle area....it will be M/D/Y format. Example 81679 will be 8th month,16th day, 1979 year.
