Hi guys, sorry if this is a noob question but I have been trying to replace the oil seal on my mercury 70hp outboard for the shift shaft as it has been leaking but I’ve only just come to the realization the the seal might be built into the bushing itself?
im just wondering if it is removable or do I need to buy a new bushing?
i have a diagram that’s shows the bushing(38)And then an oil seal(39) above that which is what made me believe that the seal inside the bushing was removable.
I have also included a picture of the removed bushing as well as the oil seal I ordered.
just looking to see if I should keep trying to get it out or if I do just need a new one.
I am having a bit of trouble figuring out how these pieces go together from this diagram.
Thanks in advance.
