hey guys i am not really sure if this is the right thread or not but i have a 1969 merc 7.5 thunderbolt. this motor has never run right since we have had it. i have put carb kits on it rewired the whole motor, put plugs in it and new coils. well last week i finaly gave up working on it so i did a little research and found a few people who have taken the power head off and put a lawnmower motor on. well i got the powerhead off and started getting everything preped to mount a 10 hp tecumseh that i had laying around. i geuss my question is do yall think it will work? or am i just wasting my time. i am currently out of town but i will be back tuesday and ill try and get some pictures up.

Did you ever gert around to checking that fuel pump to see if the diaphragm was pin-holed and leaking fuel into the motor causing your flooding?

Re: mercury changeup

i dont think that motor had a fuel pump the fuel went form the tank through a conector on the motor straight to the carb. all my fuel lines were good and i put a piece of clear hose from the conector to the carb to see if it was sucking air but i never saw bubbles.
