Hi,
Anyone taken off a classic fifty lower unit before. ive taken the trim tab off and the nut under it, the nut behind the prop and the two side nuts loosened. I thought maybe the shift shaft was holding it but there is still play in it so it cant be holding it! ive had it upside down hanging from gearbox by its own weight with diesel poured down the shaft to the crank and still nothing!!! Am i missing something or is the driveshaft stuck. I just bought this and guy said it had recent impeller change, not so sure though!! Please any ideas??

Thanks

Try hanging motor by the powerhead in normal position. Put nuts back on side bolts and snug fit those nuts. Place a 5/8ths inch nut on top of snug nuts, then back the snug nuts up against the larger nut to put vertical pressure against the housing. Even pressure both sides. Take a rubber mallet(hammer) and bang down on prop housing, but not too hard. Back nuts off more increasing pressure, bang some more. It should release soon to allow a pry bar to assist the removal. Penetrating oil may be needed on fastening studs also. Good Luck
