Mercury control compatability

I have a 1993 25hp Mercury outboard with console controls on my current 15ft aluminum boat. I need to purchase a 10 hp or less outboard to use on some smaller reservoirs in my area. Will these 1993 controls be compatible with say a 1996 Mercury 9.9 or would they not work?

Probably since the year models are close and in the 1990's big changes in designs and colors had pretty much settled out for non technology changing idea adaptation. A quick look will tell you for sure. Faztbullet can tell you for sure. Ping him.
