I swapped out a 96 50hp merc, for a 86 90hp Merc. I left the newer controls on the boat. The harness connects right up, but I have four wires that come off the harness that I do not know where they go. I'm sure that they are mostly trim and tilt, but I need to be sure. The wire colors are as follows:<br />tan, green/white, blue/white, and brown/white. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance

Moving to Mercury/Mariner Troubles and Repair. You'll get a better response there.

green/white and blue/white are the trim wires. the brown white is the trim sender wire and the tan is for a warning light or gauge. You don't have to hook any of themn up if you do not have trim. If you have trim you will have to hook up the green and blue wires. They should be on the starbord side of the engine.
