Mercury Force 50 HP, Starter?

I am having problems with starting my Force 50 HP. The problem is that when I turn the key, the engine only turns over one time. If I keep turning the key over and over one time, it will eventually start. It sounds like a dead battery. I installed a new 850 CCA battery and polished/cleaned all cables. I just don't feel comfortable when I am on the water trying to start a motor that only grunts. I can turn the flywheel by hand, so the motor is OK, I think. When it starts it runs OK. Would a new starter make this motor spin?

Sounds like the contacts inside the starter solenoid are burnt. You can verify this by jumping the 2 big wires on it.

Do a compression/spark test. Then check all the contacts and rebuild the starter/J

Got it fixed now. Was a bad starter. Worked great when out of the circuiit, but on line it was not powerful enough to turn the motor.

Hi, im having a similar problem. Starts great cold. Run it for a little. Turn off. Then it wont restart until tomorrow. Good battery. No overheating alarm. I think that when it gets hot, some connections in solenoid may not be hitting.

how can i 'jump the 2 big cables?'

what does this mean?

Thank you for your time.
