Does anyone out there know where I can get a replacment key for my boat. I know the mercury key number, but everywhere I call in the Dallas area says they can not get just the key itself. I'm trying a locksmith but they have to call becuase they do not stock it. I would like to get one before this weekend so I can going fishing.

TIA
Lewis

LouLou22, I also walked into my Merc dealer and he sold me just the key, after I told him the number. There are about 20 outboard motor keys which fit all the motors!

It probably doesn't help to hear how easy it was for us but I have the same story, just walked into my local dealer and bought a key off the shelf.

Hey Lewis,

There's a couple of Merc shops over close to me that have keys but they're on the other side of the world from you. Travis Marine haz 'em and so does Lakepark Marine. They're both in Lewisville.

c/6
Hooty

"There are about 20 outboard motor keys which fit all the motors!"

I've heard that this is even a lot! Some manufacturers apparently have 4 or 5 keys that start all their engines.

Even if there was just one, it's probably not that dumb - if someone really wants your boat they'll find a way. All the key does is keep it from being too easy for random kids and whatever.

Re: Mercury Ignition key

That's all I had to do. Just walk into a dealer and they sold me the two they had in stock. The funny thing is that I call them earlier this week and they said I had to buy the ignition switch. I guess it's just easier to go there yourself and ask questions.

Thanks for your help

Lewis
