Mercury MCM 140

I am looking to locate a service manual for my Mercury Mercruiser MCM 140. S/N 6901657.

Also any advice or common problems would be appreciated. This might end up a complete rebuild just for piece of mind.

That is a good well proven drive on the old GM iron duke. A hard combination to beat. I'd do the basic maintenance - oil changes, tune up, belts, water pump service, check the hoses and maybe a thermostat - and then see how it works.

Glad to hear, I get a good feeling from this engine but I won't know till I get into it and work up to the point of turning her over!

There's probably other places, but these guys have printed Merc manuals.

Those manuals do not call out my serial number on the engine. Is there one out there specifically for my engine? I want to make sure I have the exact manual prior to break down and rebuild.

Those manuals that Rick gave you the link for are the same ones as the online ones I gave you # 6 and #10. If you take a look in the front of those manuals the range for your engine number shows up. In book ten you will find "MCM 140 MR * 6852270-0A484072".

O ok. I guess I just don't understand the range numbers mercruiser used
