Quick question.
Changing the plugs on my 04 75HP merc.
Sticker on the side says to use NGK BUZHW-2, The plugs that are in there currently are BUZHW.
Does anybody know the difference between these plugs or what the "-2" represents?

Regardless I bought the BUZHW-2 and they look identical to the BUZHW. I will install and test tomm.

Sorry, I Do not know off hand what the -2 stands for But if you want to you could down load this link and look it up from NGK. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/tech_support/spark_plugs/faqs/faqcode.asp?mode=nml. But just so you know you are better off installing the spark plug number that is on the sticker mounted to the engine, Rather then what was on the spark plug it's self, Because someone may have put the wrong one in last time. Also when looking up you're info it said to use the -2 plug, So you will be ok now with the plugs you bought.

Re: Mercury NGK spark plug question

The - # indicates the factory gap of the plug measured in cm.

Look carefully at the 2 plugs side by side, yours are the surface gaped style, you should be able to see the difference in the width of the porcelain between the center electrode and the shell.

If you've ever been bit err decked by a murkery ignition, you wouldn't worry about the big gap.

More times than I can count, John. But my Mark75A was more infamous for interferring with all my neighbors' TV's when I ran it on the hose! Bill

Bit?

Like when you are reaching around a running motor to feel if the temps are even all over?

And the INSIDE of your forearm lays across the spark plug?

How many times does it get you BEFORE you can move away?

TOO FAST to count.

How many times have we done this BEFORE we wise up?

Not more than a couple.

just a quick question about NGK iridium spark plugs. I use them in my snowmoblie and they work great... easier starting, higher revs... just wondering if anyone has tried them in a boat motor?

Factory Spec'd for some high horse EFI motors

With the add'l cost it's up to you if you want to use them in a fishing motor.

Re: Mercury NGK spark plug question

ya, good point, they are very pricey.... although I find that they do not foul up near as quick in my sled...

I was thinking about using them in my 200 hp Merc...:)
