I have a 1998 Mercury 225EFI That has just been rebuilt before being rebuilt when you turned the key on to start motor it would go through the self test beeps like is should do.

Now after being rebult the boat and motor is still at the shop. When you turn the key to the run position without starting motor the alarm tries to do the self check beeps but goes straight to beeps at around one or two secound intervalls goes beep --- beep --- beep --- beep...... will not stop.

This means low oil in onboard tank the tank under the cowling. It is full and so is the external tank.

Now for the testing that we have done.

We have unplugged the oil sensor, still beeps unplugged the ecu for the fuel system still beeps unplugged the fuel water seperator still beeps.

I have went through the post and a service manual and everything that it says to do we have done except the ignition switch the horn and the gauge on the dash with the three lights on it could one of these three things be causing this?

Basically everything that could cause the alarm to beep we have disconected with the alarm still coming back on.

What else could cause this beep??????

EricS

Re: Mercury Oil Beep Alarm

Wiring reconnected wrong on the engine itself.

Re: Mercury Oil Beep Alarm

Swap the switchboxes and see if the alarm stops. A faulty switchbox can cause the oil alarm to go off because the oil control module connects to the outside switchbox. I just had the same problem. Good luck, Joe.
