I have a 2006 Merc 4 stroke EFI. I want to install a quick oil drain system, they go by plug size not by engine. My plug is part # 8288181 according to mercury but they could not tell me the plug size. I thought I saw somewhere it is 14x1.5mm but I'm not sure. If anyone knows the size please let me know, searched the net but no luck. Thanks in advance.

14mm is the thread OD. 1.5 is the thread pitch....1.5 mm penetration per revolution......that's a coarse thread (comparing to SAE coarse-fine type ratings) for that small a thread.

Just to be sure, 'This is for the "Engine" oil drain / Plug area? Seems they may have a type for the lower gear housing too for some models, https://www.hardin-marine.com/p-107587-filldrain-kit.aspx

Here's what I can find regarding your plug part number item number 5,

I understand thread and pitch, my boat is in storage and can't get at it to check the plug size till spring. This is the drain plug for the engine oil. Need the thread and pitch #'s to buy the EZ drain system, they have like 12 different sizes.

I saw that page, the 1.25x1.25x2.25 measurements are for the size of the box the plug comes in. Thank you for taking the time though, and yes it's for the engine oil drain. I attached a pic of the system I'm looking at, this one is 18x1.5 and too large. When everything is installed, you remove the brass cap, screw on the drain tube and the oil starts flowing. Slick and no mess.

Usually I was under the impression that site gives the thread size/type.

Further searching yields, https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=8288181&_sacat=0 ... ='s..., https://www.ebay.com/itm/154081577277?epid=19003789964&hash=item23dffa493d:g:YVsAAOSwDrNZVRWA ... ='s..., https://goldplug.com/?s=828818+1 ...

Which using other parts numbers that match up shows what you and Texasmark came up with size wise... 14mm 1.5 MAGNETIC DRAIN PLUG BOLT Equivalent for Yamaha Screw 90340-14132-00 , https://www.ebay.com/itm/152010521564
