mercury Outboard oil grease puddle

There is a very large puddle of black oil grease that oozes out of the area where the prop meets the lower unit after the boat is turned off. I have never had an outboard and don't know if this is typical of 2 cycle engines or if there is something wrong? Can you advise

That can be quite typical especially after a bunch of slow speed operation, or run out of the water.

Unburnt gas/oils collect within the exhaust cavity and drain down and drool on the ground.

Provided it doesn't have that distinct smell of gear oil, you are still good to go.
