I'm having trouble with my Mercury model 1060412DD
It will not stay in gear. I put it in gear and put lower unit back on. It will go in F N & R like it should maybe two cycles through then the cam follower comes off the shift cam( or the shift cam turns to far) then it is like it is in forward only.
I have taken the bearing carrier off and manually put it in gear then put back together. Still does the same thing. The propeller shaft spring appears to be good. The shift cam looks ok from the best I can tell. Only thing I have not done is remove the shift shaft bushing and check in there. I was scared I would get the shaft out of the cam. Been there and done that on this motor before.
