Hi, I have just bought a old black max mercury. I was told it was a 1989 and was 150hp. After some reseach I am not so sure. My serial #6489835 comes up as a 200hp and about a 1984. Is there any place to check to make sure what I have? The cowl has been repainted and labeled as a 150hp. I plan on putting it on my 1978 21' aluminium starcraft that is in great shape for its age. It is only rated for a 150hp. If it is a 200hp is it possible to use it on my boat? The motor needs a little work but appears in good running order. Any help or opinions would be appreciated.
