I have a 90 hp Merc In-line 6 1980. New water pump. I have
a mist spraying out of 2 holes at bottom rear of
cover. Does this motor have a pee hole? I tried
using a wire at a small hole on right side of motor, not even a drop comes out. Sure don't want to over heat this motor HELP.

Does the hole have a small rubber hose that goes into the cooling block? If so disconnect the hose and see if it's clogged. If not, you'll have to take off the plate/ cover it connects to (on the cooling block)and see if it's clogged, but now that I think about it, make sure you're thermostat is clean first, it may not be opening enough.

blow compressed air thru it, its controlled by whats called a poppet valve on the side of the block.

Thanks for the responce, Should I have the motor running, when using the compressed air?
Rod Knock it sounds as though you think the valve may be stuck instead of a blockage due to debris.
Do I have this right?

Re: Mercury pee hole HELP!

Thanks everyone for the help, I shot air into the
hole while running and bingo.

I noticed a small amount of fuel dripping from the
air inlet(bore) of the bottom carb. Is this a big
job rebuilding the carbs and reinstall/adjusting
them. I'm thinking about attempting it, the 3 carb set up is a little hairy.Any pointers?
