Will a Mercury 48-77338A40 substitute for a 48-77338A33? Both are Black Max, 14 X 11 RH Alum 3 Blade.
The Merc web site says the A40 is for use with Flo-Torq II or III.
My engine is a 2001 Merc 60-HP 4-Stroke Big Foot and it calls for an A33 but the prop on the engine is a 48-77340A45 14X13 which is also for use with Flo-Torq. II or III.

Re: Mercury Propeller Substitute-Need Help

In some cases the A40 prop will cause a noise on a 4STRK that's why they came out with the A33.Either one is safe to use,If you get the noise,(and it won't hurt),go to the A33.
DHP

Thank you DHPMarine. That was a quick answer! If you don't mind another questions, What is the difference between 48-77340A45 and 48-77338A33?
