And the same applies to Laddies and other experts. Look around old threads and hang around for a few years, and you will see the great depth of expertise on offer here!
As said before, to do much work on any outboard motor, it is HIGHLY recommended to get an original manufacturers' workshop manual, but even an owners manual can provide some basic guidance, and I reckon you should take a good look through the Engine FAQ section. Believe me, you can take days reading and learning on iboats!
