Any idea how difficult it is to pull the switch out? I figure I might try cleaning the switch before I replace it to see if I can remedy my issue.

Push in on the throttle only button at the handle pivot. Push throttle forward. You can now remove the throttle only button by pulling straight out. Remove the now exposed nut, remove handle. Then you remove the shift lock handle (screw). That exposes another screw up near the switch, remove it. Now switch can be removed.

Thanks for the reply - I tried inserting a screwdriver into the little gap and popping the button out or am I way off on that technique? I was assuming the little notch opening was made for this purpose but do not remember if the lever was in the neutral or forward position. I will tackle it again tomorrow and see if moving it forward makes a difference. THANKS so much for your help.
