I've rebuilt many of those blind bore Mercs, never had the compressor tools. I've used popsicle sticks to compress the rings as I slide the piston in. Go slowly, go carefully. Sometimes helps to block up the ends of the crankshaft with wood to keep things aligned while you position things. A sizable catalog of colorful language can be helpful, too.

I would imagine the inline 4s or 6s would be a necessity. i guess ill try to come up with something lol especially after i did some googling and seen the price of em. just want to make sure it goes in around the seat ok. also i didnt see an ideatification mark on the ring as to which side is "up" so i guess it doesnt matter as well? i think im getting the pistons preloaded with the rings anyways

Ring do not have a top or bottom.-------You must make sure piston ring gaps are where the pins are.----The bore does have a taper that helps getting the pistons in there.
