I have just recovered my Mercury Sailpower 4 2-stroke from storage. I haven't used it since I bought it together with my open sailing boat (Zugvogel-a popul?ar German sailing dinghy) five years ago. Can anyone help me with the correct mixture? The engine must be at least eight years old, but looks almost new, as the previous owner used it only to get the boat to and from its moorings. The motor runs, but seems to want to 4-stroke a lot of the time and I wonder whether this is because the mixture is too rich.

Thank you, hammyloz. Do you happen to know how deep I should have the propellor set? The mounting bracket allows me to have it approx. 60cm under water, but I think this may cause too much back pressure on the exhaust outlet.

the cavatation plate (the metal wing things above prop)on your outboard should be level with the bottom of the hull
