Mercury Sportjet Pistons

I have a Mercury Sportjet 240 M2 engine in my shop with one scuffed piston that needs to be replaced. I cannot find an oversize piston in the parts lookup or in the Sierra catalog. Do you look this up under one of the outboard powerhead part catalogs and if so which would be the correct one. Is this just another way to squeeze everybody's wallet harder by not providing oversize pistons so you'll just say screw it and buy the powerhead?

The serial number of the engine is OE 376724

I found this in a post on Screamandfly.com forums "the powerheads of the 175, 210, 240 and 200 optimax are the same, only the bolt on stuff is different (210 is dual carbed, 240 is EFI, and the 200 is optimax)."

Can anybody confirm this and give me the correct part number for a .015 oversize piston for this engine. The powerhead is a 2000 year model.

Laddies , that is the same parts lookup that I use on Ishopmarine.com and it also does not list an oversize piston for this model. I think this is going to take someone with some product knowledge as to what other outboard powerhead is identical to the sportjet. Thanks for the help anyway!

Call their 800 # and verify that the 175 and 240 are all 2.5 liter engines, then this 'should be' the pistons that you need.
