Guys, I am new to this site and would like to say hey and I have a problem I can't quite figure out. I have a 1994 Merc XRi mith very low hours on it. Last fall the last time I used it started having alarm go off at low rpms but would stop when i got it up to about 3000 rpms. The pressure gauge would read very low at lower rpms as well. At higher rpms the pee hole was putting out a small stream but very little at low rpms. Fast forward to today - I put oon a new water pump and thermostats put the water cup on and fired it up. Pee hole is putting water out but that damn buzzer is still going off like crazy..... Any ideas as I am not much of a marine mech.

Thanks in advance !

Re: Mercury warning buzzer

is the buzzer a constant tone or a beep beep beep tone?

Re: Mercury warning buzzer

I forgot to include that it is a 175 hp if that makes a difference. Cannon, it is a very fast beep...beep...beep. What bothers me the most is the pressure gauge is still not reading anything even after a new pump and tstats.

Re: Mercury warning buzzer

I guess no one else is gonna give any advice to my problem. Took it out today and it ran like a screaming banshee. Bout 5600 rpms pee hole peeing like crazy, oil great in both resivoirs but still the warning buzzer.... beep.. beep... beep. Like I had done nothing to it at all. Please any info at all out there ????

Check the oil pump! Running like a screaming banshee is because you might not have proper oil injecting in....... Been there ...done that and scored the walls on 2 pistons.

Take apart the oil injection pump and check the palastic gear and see if there are any teeth chewed up or missing.

Do you have a manual for your outboard?

Another thing that has happen to me in the past is to have a brand new impellar self destruct w/o warning too..... you really should drop the lower and check that too.
