Mercury Year model

I am looking at a Mercury 9.9 H.P. with electric start (used) and I would like to know the year model. The individual only knows that it is around a 1990 model. The serial number is OB103363, and it is a short shaft motor. Also what kind of price could be expected? It is in pristine condition. It looks like a new one and runs very smooth.

Price point is too hard to judge sight unseen. Pay what its worth to you.

Nada puts a used value on it as $175 to $205 depending on if it has electric start. In the real world, you can probably expect to pay twice that or more depending on the season, and its true condition.

Check the compression, and the condition of the lower unit gear oil for signs of water. If you loosen the screw just enogh to get a few drips out...make sure its not water (leaking seals). The water will be on the bottom and first to come out if its there. Should not be milky looking oil.
