former employee of mine was lead on much of the design. sad that Seven Marine was getting 627hp out of 6.0 liters (727hp from 7.2 liters) and Merc needed 12 cylinders and 7.6 liters. Bet the volvo guys are kicking themselves

I wonder if a couple of them would fit on the back of my 19ft Seamaster? Maybe I could get over 40mph with that on the back ... or maybe I could see the bottom of the lake ...

Looks like they spent a lot of time doing their homework on this one.....normally aspirated is probably lighter, simpler, more dependable and serviceable....the 2 speed transmission, lower unit steering, counter rotating props, etc., etc......looks like they have a real winner here, but as always, the proof is in the running. Of course, the $77,000 price tag advertised is waaaay out of my price range.....

I assume the larger displacement for the HP was due to naturally aspirated vs. supercharged like the traditional Verados. I wonder why they did not opt to go with a smaller displacement and supercharged . They might have needed only 10 cylinders.

Normally aspirated....maybe lighter, simpler, ease of maintenance, price, heat from turbocharger, etc., etc.....I feel confident they considered all options.....You got to know the V-12 on the motor is a status symbol among folks with the $$$$ to own these motors.

There are many UBER rich folks in Europe that will use these toys.-----Look for some documentaries on MONACO for example.-----Some of these folks are proud of what they spend on their homes / toys.-----They will be on those monster center consoles at the ----haulover inlet----as soon as they are available.----Saw a boat with them on already , on the Miami River.----I think Mercury has a money maker here.

I wonder if folks who currently have triple OB's will consider twin 600's when they re-power ?

I think that is the idea.-------4 or 5 years in salt water.----Time for new engines with warranty.-----If you can solve it with money you do not have any problems.-------Part of the popularity of the multiple big outboards is the ---" fly by wire "---technology on them.

not only fly by wire, however shift by wire and steer by wire as well...... personally, I like to have something mechanical between the helm and the steering gear

Folks walk on board modern jet liners that are all fly by wire.-------This electrical --" fly by wire " -- stuff is much cheaper to produce and install than mechanical stuff.------It is all calibrated at the factory.-----Installed on the boat / motor with little or no adjustment needed.

I know the guy that worked on the steering on the 600hp V12 Verado....... I would want a mechanical system...... (just giving you a hard time Travis M.)

List price is something like $77K per engine ???

However, triple OB powered would only need 2 of these.

I like the dual props and the fact that only the LU steers.

I showed it to my wife and told her it would not fit on our boat. She sighed and said she was ready to run out and buy one for me. For some reason I am not believing her!

In the specifications it says 1260 LBS *---- * lightest model in the line-up.----Extra long models are heavier.---Routine maintenance can be done by lifting the wee cover and is very clever.---They say that you do not have to remove the main cowling until 1000 hrs are put on it.------Now I have read that an oil change on a FERRARI sports car can cost a $1000 or more.----So these come into the same category of ------" if you have to ask "------You can not afford it.--And I doubt the folks who own these things are even remotely interested in working on it themselves.
