Hi all, I just bought a 1987 18' Sport-Craft Cuddy Cabin for $500. I have a few questions, the hr reading on the dash is 424.3 is that a lot of hours on a mercruiser engine, also I did not get the opp to test the engine because no battery, and its been sitting a while and I didnt want crappy gas getting in the engine thats been sitting in the fuel tank. What can I do to get the gas out of the fuel tank thats under the floor? Or should I just treat it, and how can I test the engine without the outdrive hooked up? Im mechanically inclined ive worked on a few outboards before but never an inboard. Also where can i get a key for the ignition?
Oh yeah the engine in a 4cyl 3.0 L
Thanks in advance.

Ayuh,... Hour meters are pretty meaningless,.. No that's not alot..
A compression test will reveal more about the motors health...
and its been sitting a while and I didnt want crappy gas getting in the engine thats been sitting in the fuel tank. What can I do to get the gas out of the fuel tank thats under the floor? Or should I just treat it,
Extract abit from it, 'n Smell it,... If it Smells like gas, it's probably Ok...
You can't treat Bad Gas...
If it Stinks,...
Pump it out, 'n trash it...
and how can I test the engine without the outdrive hooked up?
Feed it water, with a hose...

A remote gas tank will get it started...
