I am noticing that when I write a message using my ipad The formatting changes once I hit the (post) button. Instead of having the many lines of conversation. I have one or two continuous run on sentences. Also the edit function does not work at all

Same thing here. Since upgrade can't insert a space or start a new paragraph. And no edit function. One needs to start a new post since it can't edit. Also, one should be able to edit the title of the post too. Better get your post correctly spelled the first time or look like an idiot "forever" in print. Swell move doing a forum upgrade right at the start of boating season. I guess management figured iboats is "the only" boating store to spend our boating dollars at.

Not even remotely close to accurate. READ some of the other Topics under the iboats website problems forum. It's NOT iboats that's the problem. If you had read pretty much any of them, you have known how important resolving this matter is to the iboats organization as a whole.

I have very little difficult posting what & when I choose to since the upgrade. Many times it works as it should. Other times I might have to perform an extra step or 2, but I CAN accomplish 99% of what I want to.

I tried something last night for the fun of it - over in the Silverine forum I did a BIG post on my boat. I typed the first post few paragraphs in the Text Edit app on the Mac (Like Notepad on Windows) then copy & pasted into the forum editor, and the next two I typed in the editor on the page (total of three posts). I had no trouble with it whatsoever.

I do have trouble from time to time editing text inline in the forum window (it puts characters in odd places), but new paragraphs and formatting haven't caused me any real trouble.

Hope that helps.

There is an issue with no paragraphs. Also, it appears you can't go back and edit your post if you quoted someone else in that same post. If you don't quote, you should be able to edit. Admin is aware of these issues too.....

Just checking paragraphs again since fixes happen daily...... Nope.

Not going to happen, once you have jumped off the cliff, you be flying!

If you take a look there are several threads on "the lets go back" topic explain why it can't be done.

I am able to edit a message that I have quoted some one else.

Most of those "go back" threads have been closed because they are counter-productive.

Edit of a quoted post just worked.
I don't quite understand the paragraph stuff. Is that when we had the red line for a paragraph insert? I haven't seen that in a while.

GA, even closed threads can be read for information purposes, even closed, people should read through them before starting up the same arguments again.

Agreed, MT. I was just saying that some of the repetitive, same problem reporting topics are being locked to added comments. Especially the go back to the old way topics. Now when a topic gets deleted like the other night - different story.

I was talking about making a typo in a response with a quote and going back and fixing the typo before I submit the post. You can see the typo I made in tbhis post. For me to fix the typo, I have to back space all the way back to that typo to fix it, thus losing all the info I typed after the mistake.

GA- The paragraph thing, when making a post we can't hit the return key to make a new paragraph. Actually we can, but when we submit the post it puts all the sentences back into one paragraph. Like what will happen when I submit this post............

I should have 3 paragraphs in this post........ Maybe there's a work around......

EDIT: MT - I see I can fix the typos after I submit the post and go back and edit. I left one typo on purpose.....

Whim, my browser underlines the typo as I type it, so all I have to do is right click and let the spell checker correct the type before I submit, if I notice it after I have posted, I just click edit and fix it, it has not changed any of the formatting I have used.

My browser has built-in spellcheck too. Typo oops, typo - typo I can arrow back or mouse over to what I want to change. I arrowed and moused back over to each of the misspelled "typos" and fixed

¶ 1 blah, blah, blah blah, blah, blah blah, blah, blah blah, blah, blah

¶ 2 blah, blah, blah

¶ 3 blah, blah, blah

Paragraphs are working for me. What browser are you using, Musky? Firefox for me.

I don't know where the A with the ^ is coming from when I put the paragraph mark ¶ in front of the paragraphs.

Not seeing the "A" in your post on my browser (Safari on a Mac).

I think paragraphs and the editor are working differently platform to platform (which should be fun for the IT guys). Editing in-line while typing a post has been kinda' hit and miss for me. Typically, I can't move the cursor back and edit the story in line. What I've had to do is delete all the way back to the error and then edit (I've been copying as a work around so I don't have to completely re-type).

From my understanding, Chrome is not playing real well with a lot of websites these days, kind of reminds me of the early days with Explorer and Netscape, in the military we quit using Netscape because some of their stuff would not play well with html standards, currently I am using a variation of the Firefox browser called Palemoon and have had much less problems with it than any other browser than I have used in the past. Parsing the quotes in php is not all that easy for some systems

My A's went away. And they were there every time I looked until now.

I think you hit the nail on the head about platforms. All the different browsers added to all the mobile platforms, even the variants of the same mobile platform. I'm glad I don't do this stuff for a living any more. At least when I was, phones were for hello and good bye with an answering machine for missed calls. LOL

Takes a very long time displays "working" to post comment and sometimes fails causes duplication, refuses pics that are small enough but says they are corrupt though were ok before the "improvements". Sorry if i'm in the wrong thread. Are you sorry for my dissatisfaction?

I see what you mean about the paragraphs now.

It could be Chrome. Your paragraphs are still showing, not jammed together.
