That is a very intersting thought. I am planning on adding a hard top to mine some time in the furure. I had been thinking alont the lines of one of the sheet metel out buildngs.

If I was going to do something like this I would lay it out so that I had access to it from the front as well as the rear. That way instead of backing the boat in each time I could just pull through. I'm just sayin...

the weight may be a factor, metal vs. alluminum

I used aluminum awning metal for my hardtop. Works really well. If you want a picture let me know.

O.K. Sorry about my earlier post. I thought the question was about storing the boat with a hardtop in a carport.... Not using a carport for a hardtop.... Woops.
I thought I saw where you can purchase a design specific swim platform kit for about a grand. I am not sure how much carports are, but it seems for a few dollars more you can have one that is designed to work and look like it belongs there.
