Re: metal top for pontoons
I just rebuilt a 20 ft. pontoon from the tubes up, checked tubes for leaks, new 3/4 treated plywood, new carpet, used railing that had to be cut and welded to fit. Got used console with controls and use motor. Total cost a little under 2 grand. Use this for pleasure and bank pole fishing works great. I put a lay down canope on. Found 3 tops about 9 ft. long and the same width as the railing. These are used over docks with the crank-up piers that rich people use. (got 3 for 50 dollars total). Four arms to support from railing to top, most marnies have (20 dollars). This was all used. I put tarp on top with bungy( 10 dollars) worked great but will replace this winter with vinyl and metal screws. Vinyl and tree limbs don't mix well. This can be put up and down with one hand and locked in place with 2 bolts with wing nuts (it only weighs 25-30 lbs.) When down it covers the motor, gas tank, battery and console. Used only aluminum or ss hardware.
