I just purchased a 1971 MetCraft Tri-hull. I am looking for information on them. Anyone ever own one or know anything about them? I cannot find anything on MetCraft other than stuff about a different company that made wakeboard towers for Malibu ski boats.

What kinda' information are you looking for? To be honest, you'll likely not get too much technical information about the boat by finding even old literature. If you're looking for history, of course that's different and you may find things. I didn't see anything about them over at Fiberglassics.com.

Got photos? You might get some educated guesses outta' us that way.

Welcome aboard.

Sorry these are not the best pictures and don't show everything that has been done since I picked it up in November.

It is a 17' Tri-hull with a 115 '69 Evinrude Electroshift. The hull over all is in decent shape and it doesn't leak. I rewired it, installed new lights, bait tank, graph, VHF, antenna, re-upholstered the seats, replaced the gas tank, added some rod holders. I picked it up cheap knowing it needed work. I bought it specifically for fishing in the bay and the kelp beds and because of the space that it had to set up as I wanted. Overall I love the boat, just irritated with a power issue. This is not my first boat. I had a 2005 Stratos 275 Pro XL that I had to sell due to poor economy.

I wanted information to find out about how much horsepower I could go up to in the event that I repower this boat. The 115 I believe would be enough, but I need to figure out the lack of power issue. I have a post about that in the Johnson/Evinrude forum. I was also interested in how long these boats were made and who owns them or who they became if someone bought them out. Kind of like Stratos taking over Champion and making it the Stratos Elite Series.
