And they tell us that they only do work that Americans don't want to do. How did sheetrock get installed before the illegals got here? At least they got some sense and are not waving around all those mexican flags today.

Seems to me that there is a simple solution to all this.

INS should go to these "rallies," ask for ID, round em up - ship em home.

Sean

Re: Mexicans striking

Hmmmmm......Does anyone have a problem with this? We are dependant on foreign oil, foreign made goods & now foreign made labor?
I think we would adjust just fine, without illegal immigrants.....
It bugs the carp out of me when it is made to sound like this country will come to a grinding halt without them.....
I would love to see what the real unemployment #'s are.......JK

Re: Mexicans striking

A few months ago couple of gubners, democrats no less, had declared a state of emergence at the Mexican border and sent in the nat’l guard to help stop (slow?) the flow of illegal aliens coming into their states (New Mex and AZ, I think).

So, now congress takes off for a 2 week vacation with nothing done about the borders. Amnesty, entitlements, a job, house, car and 74 virgins, who cares!?!?! It has nothing AT ALL to do with the need to seal the border!!! They can decide what to do with the 8 to 22 million (no one knows how many) illegal aliens later, the border needs to be sealed NOW!

D.R.I.P. – Don't Return Incumbent Politicians.

Like the problem that became very visible on 9/11, the illegal alien issue is NOT new. It’s been there for quite awhile. The same career yokels in office have allowed this problem to fester also. Ain’t a dimes difference between any of those Sallys.

If you want to solve the illegal alien problem, D.R.I.P.

Re: Mexicans striking

More than a few yrs ago, we had a boatload of Tamil refugees land here on the coast of Nova Scotia (Can) that were immediately looked after by local residents then headed to Montreal Que., where they wanted to go, I guess because of Montreals more diverse population. They were put up in 4-star hotels for months and litle by little, slipped away into the population. I cannot imagine have the problem the U.S. is having. How can your tax-payers afford to look after health benefits and education for all illegals. According to CNN, there were 11 to 15 millions illegals! How are you doing it??

Kerry

Seems to me we get about 35% of our oil from Mexico, soooo, what do you think are the chances that Congress will pass meaningful immigration legislation??? If we could cut our oil use by 35% we could tell Fox where to go and actually close the border, the chances of that happening are less than Congress passing meaningful immigration legislation. Get used to the illegals, IMHO, they're here to stay and Congress will probably give them full US citizen status. :p

Re: Mexicans striking

The subject makes it seem as though being a Mexican is like an occupation or proffession instead of a Nationality. All Mexicans are not Sheetrockers just as all Sheetrockers are not Mexican. Though the circumstance brings relevant questions the manner in which it is stated is both divisive and derisive.
I don't know how accurate slowlys' figures are but it answers Dudes question and lends credence to 18's comments.
Politics makes strange bedfellows.

Mexico is run by about twenty wealthy (and I mean wealthy) families for their benefit, and their benefit only. These sons of ******* are the ones who keep the people of Mexico in poverty, and these are the people who are gaining by sending the masses to the US.

I say off with their #*&^@%& heads! Maybe we should be capturing the illegals, training them in the ways of free enterprise and insurgency, and sending them back into the interior of Mexico to take their country away from the bassturd Spaniards who are holding them down.

Sounds like what we did with Saddam and the mujihadden (sp?) freedom fighters back in the 0's/90's.

Re: Mexicans striking

How many times have you heard that? To let them take their own country back. But as long as we let them get away with sending the poor across our border for us to worry about...

Mexicans arn't the only ones working for less than minimum wage; ie: no taxes taken out. Many people work under the tabel. Sorry slick Willie, I'm not talkin 'bout you. ;)

yep, and as long as those twenty south of the border are playing and paying the 40 north of the border it will all remain the same.
as far as training anyone to take back anything lets go look at that stellar path, maybe the taliban(AKA freedom fighters, Al Queda, yes a covert CIA program with the cash funneled through oor pakistanni buddies by the CIA. hey as long as they was a killin rooskies it was ok,Right?
and for the grand finale have a thoughrough look at school Of The Americas, and the new name as well, and see who is on the graduate list and how well they worked.
as far as the sheetrockers strike we can blame a lot of that on americans and their obsession with college degrees that leave folks illprepped to actually work.
not a lot of collegates applying for that sheetrock or framer or iron worker job.
if ya really wanna see stupid look at most roofing crews.
I have cousins that all have their own subcontracting business's, most will hire"guest" workers because they show up sober and ready for work each and every day, rarely take surfing days and actually follow instructions.
whats gonna hurt is if the mexican GM engine assy plant,or similar plants, strike.

My suggestion was not meant to be taken seriously (except for the fact that the wealthy Mexicans are real bassturds and racists without peer), but really, rodbolt---do you think that because actions often bring about unintended consequences, that we should do nothing instead? Or do you just love Monday morning quarterbacking?

Re: Mexicans striking

dogsdad
I agree with a lot of this "guest" worker thing, I agree that our current administration has ignored it for 6 whole years and will most likly continue the course, its what they do best. I also agree that the past 4 administrations also ignored the issue and all were happy as long as big business was making obscene profits from moving manufacturing jobs and assembly plants south.
nothing will change until someone grows some cojones.
however I dont see any sprouts in this admin either.
yes I agree that a very small faction controls the mexican economy, I also will agree that US business intrests have trumped US national intrests in making sure it stays that way, the rest of us on both sides of the border get to suffer for it and most likly will for some years to come.
a good start would be mandating that any assy or manufacturing facilities outconus must meet our federal labor and environmental laws and must allow free acess and inspection by OSHA and the EPA and any other federal programs in place to insure compliance. if not in compliance a 150% import tax will be imposed.
however US biddess's would squeel like piggies.
so that wont happen anytime soon.
the only way I see to stop the influx is to use US influence to increase the quality of life standards for the average mexican citizen without interfering with their actual culture, do I care if they have to wear burka's or sandals ? nope. I do care that they can compete on a less than level playing field.
as far as illegals taking sheetrockers, roofers and framers jobs in the US its a mostly level playing field.
most americans I run across dont like manual labor anymore.
so they get a college education and work inside.
but someone has to build and maintain stuff.
and the workforce doing it needs to show up everyday sober and ready for work with the ability to follow simple instructions.
something most US citizen construction workers in my area seem to be unable to accomplish.
