Wood,
Thanks for the wiring diagram and info on fuse breaker.....I take it that I can search for "Fuse Breaker" in the search bar, and are all marine fuse breakers the same?

Wow! Build my on hard top! I can promise you one thing....I ain't that Phelps guy when it comes to Jack-of-them-all!!!!
I will be super excited to get the transom built
Thanks for the complement ! But I am just a newb like most guys here . I just kind of muddled through learning as I went. Have removed the old transom yet? You should have all glass stringers and deck. At the bottom of the transom there is a built up kind of base of fiberglass on the inside . You might have to cut the deck back to tab in the bottom of the transom. Post some pics of the area so maybe some of the pro's can give some guidance . I used Seacast so I didn't have to cut mine back.

Welcome to the Club!

Mine's not in restored condition just in shape to use.
Had it out yesterday after replacing the cable and pully steering.

Wow! Sweeeeeeeeeet! I can't wait...... My plans are to get her in "shape to use" and restore from there.....I am with Phelps....wish we all lived closer! I live in the State with the most navigable waters in the Union outside of California and I plan on "cruising" most of them! The cowboys have trail rides......we need to have a river ride!

Re: MFG 1964 restoration/transom work

Hi redfishingfun,
Just wanted to come aboard and watch another nice MFG brought back to better than new condition...

You've already scored with some of the most helpful and knowledgeable guys here on the forum, so you are off to a great start

After you get some practice and experience working with plywood and fiberglass, you will have all of the basic knowledge to just build your own custom hard top...
It really wouldn't be that difficult and you can make it to fit your needs...

Best of luck and have Fun!
GT1M

Thanks GT1M,
Welcome and please feel free to input anytime. I would appreciate any advice or help ... anytime! I will post pictures of the transom and wiring tomorrow. Those will be the first areas of attack. I can't stop dreaming about drift fishing on the Alabama River!

Jim,
Do you have an actual color for the boat. While waiting around I thought I would try to find some matching seats. No plans to build them if I can find them as inexpensive as I have seen them.

Yep I'm not sure the exact year but later on they started going with wood stringers and deck.

I don't know what color they called it, I call it turquoise. I still have my original seats (white) but they need to be rebuilt. How are you doing your transom? I did mine with Seacast and am very happy I did.

Boat MFG (22).jpgBoat MFG (27).jpgBoat MFG (28).jpgBoat MFG (37).jpg

This is what we are starting with. The foam was sprayed in by the previous owner to have something to set the pw transom on. He decided the boat was too much for him, so I have it now!:D. I cut the overflow off flat with the boat deck. I do believe I am going to be told to remove it by the experts on the forum. I am there
I have a question. I will probably go with 3 layers of glassed pw due to cost. Question. I stopped by a pool supply on the way home from a funeral and asked about their resin. Pools, water (constant)! 25.00 a gal.
Can I build up from the bottom of the floor about 4 inches to set the glassed pw on. The reason would be extra precaution for leakage or standing water in the back/bottom of the boat........the transon would set on this hardened resin..???? Just a thought and please remember....this is my first go at restoration, and I know nothing about boats, glassing, painting, puddy or anything I left out!

Re: MFG 1964 restoration/transom work

You added a signature, so you know how to do that, correct?

Once you get to your 'edit signature' page, type whatever you want your signature to read like this:

RedFishingFun MFG rebuild

Highlight the text you want visible & left mouse click the symbol on next to the smiley link. It's a world globe w/ an infinity symbol at the bottom right corner of it. A window bane will open w/ a long white box. Into that box type the web address of what you want to link. If you want to link to your resto, make sure your getting the correct web address for the beginning on page 1:

http://forums.iboats.com/boat-resto...center-console-complete-refurbish-523412.html

^^ Your thread. You can cut & paste web addresses for you signature line from your browser's address bar.

Or using the user post link: left mouse click your user name, select view forum posts from the drop down menu. Find the specific post you want to link: like WoodOnGlass did for his paint your boat for $100, or the transom, stringer & deck link, that take you directly to the specified post. Like this for 1 of your specific posts above:

http://forums.iboats.com/boat-resto...toration-transom-work-622708.html#post4356889

There is an edit avatar & profile pix link on the same page as the edit signature, you can add different pix for your profile, and another pix for your avatar. I think they both need to be under 64KB, and 100X100 resolution.

Be sure to follow the forum guidelines for posts for whatever you put in your signature line & avatar pix

Good luck w/ the sig line changes.

Re: MFG 1964 restoration/transom work

Took me a little bit to understand the foam bit. If I get it the foam fills the space from the bottom of the hull up to the floor, right? It looks like the lower drain hole is still there so I guess the previous owner foamed around that hole but I wonder how far (forward) under the floor the foam oozed, OR is the inside skin of the transom still down there? I don't think resin from a pool company is any differant than other resins. The thig you need t

Yep the foam through me off a little also . Looks like the po already cut the inside skin out and a little of the deck .

You will probably need to cut the deck back a little further to tab the bottom in correctly ..I am kinda wondering what the stringers look like under all the foam . Until now I have not seen the deck cut out of any other MFG of this year .
