Hi all,

I am a newbie here and have a question. My wife and I own a 1995 Crownline 250 CR with a Bravo II outdrive 7.4L Merc engine. I have been thinking about changing the prop to get a little better performance and plane faster when we have multiple passengers on the boat.
The current prop is a 21 pitch and I have read that if I go down to a 19 pitch prop I could possibly get the results I am looking for. My reading has told me that decreasing pitch will gain as much as 400 RPM. I don't want to over rev the old girl so I am trying to find out what the MFG's recommended WOT is. My experience tells me that it won't go over 4200.

Can anyone shed some light as to wear I may find this info?

Thanks in advance:D

4200 to 4600 is the range for that engine. You could go down to a 17 pitch and be even better.

Thanks for the quick reply...I'll play the conservative card and go with the 19 pitch for now...I'd rather be safe than sorry...I don't think I can afford a rebuild right now:eek:

Great forum BTW...as my kids say, I'll be "creeping" around.

Got the new prop Friday PM and installed it on the boat Sunday AM (had some obligations on Saturday). We went out with 4 other people on the boat as a test. I was very pleasantly surprised at the noticable difference in how quickly the old tub got out of the water. I should have gone to a different prop a few years ago. Up to now we would rearrange people in the on the bow, etc to keep the weight off the stern. We had no such problems yesterday. I also managed a few more MPH on the top end. That helped as we were trying to run away from a T-storm.
