Anybody know much about MFG Tri-hulls. Have been offered a 1974 Bowrider, with a 1992 48sp hung on it, in trade for a boat that I have for sale or trade. I know the motor but not the hull.
I know it is a light boat but how do they handle?
Thanks for the input.

Re: MFG Tri-hull

They handle like a cross between a jonboat and v-hull, literally. Stable at all speeds, steer nice, but kinda bobby/rough in choppy water. Not for ocean going or rough inland waters, but okay for most lakes. I have a 72-73 Ebbtide trihull, a sister to the MFG. Sound hulls, but after that many years make sure the bottom is sound (look for holes, repairs, repainting, gelcoat), and that the floor and under it are also sound. Only thing I don't like about mine is hull bottom could be thicker. It ain't delicate, but you do have to be careful with it.....30 year old f-glass you know.

tim Mc,
Thanks for the input.
Anybody know what hull factor to use on a tri-hull of this vintage? I am guessing about 190-200.

MG,

I'm a bit confused by "hull factor". Are you trying to determine max. horsepower?
