Does anyone have information of where to find a replacement top frame for this model? 1965 custom, with 4 original seats, curved windshield sloted to connect the top cover, I belive. I have the original canvas, but no top. Dimension would be helpful also, for the frame.

thanks,
Nathan

Nathan,
You have an interesting question. I wish I could offer you a simple answer.
Having the canvas is a BIG plus. However, I would bet you won't be able to get an "off the shelf" ready made frame. Maybe some one here has one and can offer you some measurements. Other than that, you can have one made.
Ask around boat yards for someone that makes Bimini tops. Most reputable makers will have a tube bending machine. Having the canvas will help out here.
Lastly, You might want to check around for a parts boat that might have some of what you need.
Isn't owning a classic a lot of fun!!;)

Re: MFG Westfield top frame replacement

Hi Nathan,
I have a 64 Custom with the TaylorMade cloth top [and side curtains and rear cover]. My top is near the end of its life, but still hanging in there. I have not contacted TaylorMade to see if or how much it would be to make duplicates. I have the original model #'s stamped on each piece. I'd be very interested in how you make out.
Now, to your specific question, I do have the original frame, which I assume is also TaylorMade, but not positive. Good news is that it consists of simple bends. Possible bad news: do you still have the adjustable rails mounted to the top of the gunwales, or any of that hardware? If so, my initial thinking is that you should be able to get the rest of it made up for you - with possible issues obtaining some other connecting h/w. Better yet, as Ed says, find a parts boat or investigate the frame and see if it is common to many types of boats and start looking more broadly. As I'm a Cadet here too [!] others may have much better ideas for you.
If you give me some time I can get you close up pics to assist you if others don't already have them handy to share.
Good luck!
Woody

Chris,
I don't have any of the mounting hardware/brackets. Any pics, stock #'s and taylor info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Nathan,
I'll get a chance to uncover the boat sometime this week and will get some shots and the canvas model #s.

Re: MFG Westfield top frame replacement

Nathan,
Finally had a chance to check things. Here are the model numbers for '64 Westy:
"TaylorMade for MFG":
Top: AC-606-3-P
Side Curtains: AC-607-3-P
Stern Cover: AC-608-3

Curtains are clear plastic w/ fabric/zipper framing.

And 4 pics: 1)frame up 2)gunwale h/w (slides fore/aft depending on raising/lowering top) 3)linking h/w 4)underside of canvas top also showing tubing bends (tubing is coated)

Hope this helps

Thanks Chris!
This will really help! Major issue right now is replacing trailer with "road worthy" unit. But this needs to happen as well!
Thanks,
