I've used Bounce sheets (lots of them), for the boat and cottage. No mice where I use them, lots where I don't.

Sprinkle some of the cheapest cayenne pepper you can find around.
Along the inside walls, corners, likely travel paths.
Works on squirrels too.

Bounce or Downy sheets and a few trays of mothballs have never let me down yet.
