I have a Michigan prop on my 2.3its a 13 3/4 x 15. Was going to go for a 17 pitch. But my Michigan is aluminum and might keep as a spare after I get repaired chipped and dinged. Does anybody have feedback on this brand good/bad feedback is very welcome

The Michigan is ok but I think in aluminum the Solas Amita and Rubex are more technologically advanced.

I have been buying and using Michigan wheels for years for most of my customers. Its the brand the local prop shop sells the most. Good, solid and durable, no frills, great value.

Michigan Wheel has been in business since 1903 making marine gear and have exclusively made props since 1934. They must be doing something right. And they do have a full line of props from OEM replacement on up.

Re: Michigan prop?

The key words are "I think" Bound to elicit a reply.
All I know in an entry level prop they use squeeze cast technology which supports a more refined aluminum design and a stronger per pound prop. Also "I think" Solas actually supplies props to some of the outboard manufacturers.
I think you will have little or no luck finding any truly technical data on any prop. A lot of talk about rake, cup, lift,
vague references about hole shot , economy, quality, research, top performance.
I have been witness here to lots of successful Solas prop applications. Especially with the Amita and Rubex props.
I don't think you can find any truly informative information on any props.
You may find some independent testing with some actual numbers.

Re: Michigan prop?

I "think" Solas has better smoke and mirrors PR than Michigan Wheel. I can tell you with utmost certainty that Solas does NOT supply OEM props. The OEM props and several of the aftermarket prop manufacturers get many of their props from BaekSan Propeller Co., Ltd. - Propeller, Outboard, Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki

The majority of Michigan Wheel propellers, aluminum, stainless, bronze and nibral are made here in the USA. If that means anything.
