My 14 jon boat is riddled with crazing. I sanded it all down and it goes deep into the gel coat. I ran a super thin layer if resin only no glass over the whole bottom and will sand it all back down lightly before priming. Do you think this will seal the crazing?

only temporarily.....resin by it self is very brittle...

the cause of the crazing is still undtermined.... you know...it doesnt take much to do a gellcoat repair...try it ....and then its fixed forever !

Oops, I thought of the resin to fill in the small stress cracks in my hull as well.
I have fixed the transom and deck. I think that was the problem.

How do you do a proper gellcoat repair?

Not trying to hijack the thread, but i apoligize to the op if you think I am.

Oh so true, very very temporary, like the first trip out in rough water. I've tried that method years back (against the advice of pro's). It doesn't hold up at all....

I think you're in for some gel work. There should be some info on here how to do the gel work, if not someone will chime in and walk you through it. From what I am gathering I would brace for the following steps.

- sand off the gel till mostly down to bare glass.
- layup 1-2 layers of CMS over the hull with poly resin (this will stabilize the surface and cover the cracks/prevent from printing through again)
- fare the surface with some thickened gel
- sand smooth and spray the new gel (or prime for paint). Choice is yours, there are positives and neg's to each approach. If it's more of a work boat then I might lean more towards gel simply for durability.
- Wetsand, buff and have a few cocktails :)

Now, this info is for a project sight unseen. It might be what you need, might not. If you can post some pics we'll know for sure..
