Re: microsoft adware program

I have started using FireFox at home, and with Adaware se, Spybot sd, firewall, anti virus, and thunderbird for email. I have not had a problem since, no more popups period. Before I was using Norton Internet security and updating often. It was so bad I could hardly do anything. So, I have to say that IE is part of the problem, I only use IE when I do Microsoft updates. These people are attacking Microsoft stuff and we are in the middle. I seen a news report that said CA has passed anti spyware and anti spam laws, maybe this will help (rrriiiigght).

rwise, I am also doing the same thing. Firefox sems to be VERY secure, and Thunderbird seems to be great also. I haven't run either long enough to make educated reports about, but I would recommend them. I also can report absolutely NO pop-ups, nor any hijacks or redirects.

Update:

Have to agree with Spratt on this. Installed the new M$ spyware program shortly after it came out. I had run Spybot and Adaware. The install process of M$ also does a scan.

Today I ran Spybot, then Adaware, the M$. The M$ and SB Tea Timer are supposed to be protecting me. SB found and fix 51 problems, Adaware 24, and M$ 5.

Looks like I'm keepin' em all.

I use Norton Anti-virus and Norton Firewall (part of Norton Internet Security).
I also run spybot and AdAware (yes, Adaware picks up more things than spybot)
I don't use Internet Explorer anymore, I use Mozilla instead.
