Okay, here is the issue.
When I use MS Word and highlight a word to change it to some thing else, the rest of the words that are in front of the highlighted word seem to get eaten up when I type in a new word.
I hope I am explaining this right. It does not always happen, but when it does, anything in front of a word I change, the other words(letters) seem to get deleted while I type a new word.

If I have not expained this right, I will try to give an example.

"sample sample sample dude sample sample sample".

Now, if I want to change the word "dude"(to sample), I would either put my cursor at the end of the word "dude" and backspace, or highlight the word and then enter "sample".
BUT when I do that, the other 3 sample words seem to disappear letter by letter, as I type.
WHY WHY WHY. I am going insane here.
It is making WAY too much work for me to do.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Does anyone know how to fix it? Or am I doing something wrong?
I have asked many many people and it has happened to all of them, but yet, no-one knows why it does this or how to fix it.
Please help.
Many many thanks to anyone who can help.
Brother Chris.

It sounds like you have auto correct enabled.
In the tools menu you can change it.

Since your example is not a correct sentence it try's to correct it for you.

You have hit the insert key. look at the info line below the document and you will see a tab with the letters "OVR" in it. Press the insert key again and the "OVR" will have disappeared and you can again insert

JD

Thanks so much for the replies. That has been driving me crazy for over a year.
I checked the auto correct and that seemed to be okay.
Pascal has hit it on the head though. It is the insert key that I have pressed by accident.
Now the next question is, why would they have that there? What use is the insert key? Doesn't make much sense to me.....but who cares now.
I feel much better now that I know how to correct it.
It will save my so much time doing my work.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Brother Chris.

The "insert" key...it took me way too long before I discovered that was causing the problem you had. It was a real PIA; when I type on the keyboard, my fingers are flying all over the place and when I hit an odd key by mistake, something pops up that I have no idea what key I hit that did it!

Is there a list of Microsoft keyboard shortcuts available somewhere?
