He said it runs great, he ran it at mid rpm in a large tank for about an hour with no issues, he wants like 650.00 bucks, is this a good price, ser # looks to be 1002003, Thanks...any help will be appreciated

Re: Mid 80's b100

I'll tell you later about how good it is. I bought on in Jan for $600. with a serial number B 100L- 1501888. It is an 83 model, so yours is newer than that. For around the Northwest that would be a good price, assuming nothing goes out right away, which no one can tell. Does he have a maintenance record to tell you what sort of care it got, and what has went into it recently, and who did it. They are supposed to be great motors. I'd love to find out more about them myself.

No, he has no maint. records, he just finds them and fixes them. I already took it back it seems to have a bad coil according to him and 1 spark plug is not firing full strength. I have the option of getting my money back. I also picked it up for 600.00 bucks. If I end up keeping it after he's done fixing it I will test it by making it bring the boat back and see how good it pushes the boat and how good it's running.

Testing it on the boat sounds good. And most people don't keep maintenance records for some reason. I got lucky with a 2 owner, 1 marina working on it motor. All the records. Bad coil will affect the spark plugs, I believe. I've heard a lot of good about the Honda 4 strokes. And I have a buddy from School (back in the 60's) works on them. Good luck with it, either buying or keeping.
