Mid 80's johnsons

I have a '85 vro 50 That was given to me with a melted piston. I also have a '86 vro 40 that is in good shape. I have already swapped the power trim to the 40, but my question is: Are there any parts off the 50 that I could swap to the 40 that would add any noticeable gain in HP? I know this subject has been discussed numerous times with mostly negative replys, but these two motors are virtually identical to the naked eye. I know its probably a lost cause, but I thought I would ask some of you guys for oppinions first.
