Mid 80's Merc 4.5 outboard - no idle

I just bought a mid 1980 merc 4.5 hp outboard. Would not start initially, Carb & choke cleaner. Now starts, runs reasonably well at anything above idle on through top end. Drop down to idle & it dies. Any suggestions? I can't seem to find any mixture screws, etc.<br />Thanks ahead of time.<br />Brian

Howdy, Idahofos.<br /><br />Was your test in the water or on the hose?<br /><br />You may have a clogged low speed jet, or you may simply be off on link 'n' synch.<br /><br />I would overhaul the carb and do a careful linkage and synchronization adjustment, using the factory manual.<br /><br />Good luck.
