I am looking at a boat with twin 250 johnsons , wodering if these motors are any good , withthe exception of being a gas hog , it apears theses are v8 motors

I'm not sure they are V-8's. I don't think the V-8's were sold in the US in the Nineties. I could be wrong. Got Model numbers?

Count the spark plugs. That will tell you.

If they are "Fichts". Walk away.

fichts, are similar to the etec, But, the bugs were not worked out, and service centers were not trained to support them. they are no longer made, and service, parts are hard to find. there are good fichts, out there that were maintained. but the majority i would run from.

thanks tashasdaddy, good to know I am always looking for a new boat and usually buy the wrong motor. Any others to watch for?
