Anyone heard of a Mariner glass hull runabout made by Midwest Marine Inc. out of Red Wing Mn.? It appears to be an early sixties vintage judging from the looks of it and the equipment. It has no metal placard on it where capacity, horsepower rating, and etc. was listed. What year was that coast guard plate made mandatory? It DOES have something I've never seen on a boat....an under dash 8-track player! Has a 100hp Johnson Meteor electromatic outboard on it. I fear it is just so much junk that the step father in-law dragged home from an auction....as usual !

Plate requirements started up in '73, I think. Might be a bit on the boat HERE. 8 track would kinda' fun to play with :)

southkogs....Thanks! Know more now than I did! Probably never narrow the model down completely ...but it most resembles the 63 chief. I'd imagine there were all kinds of add ons and options. Don't appear they made boats very long from what I've found.

WOW an 8-track player. I have to admit, I still have an 8-track tape player in the garage, but only for the radio portion. It was a combination 8-track, cassette, record player, AM/FM/FM Stereo receiver. Yea, I know ancient. I don't even know if anything works on it but the radio. But since I work out of my shop, the radio doesn't even get turned on anymore. But the birds like nesting behind it.

Only somewhat on topic thing I have to add (and maybe it's just because I'm local to the area) is that MN especially and N. IA seemed to of had an overabundance of small boat manufacturers back in that time period.

Off topic I'm glad I checked this, I like that bench/lounger seat arrangement they show in the '63 brochure. Might have to see how it would work in the Jet when the time comes.

Plus it finally gives me an excuse to use this :focus:

Much like TDF suggests above, through the 60s and 70s there were all kinds of boat makers out there ... it's kind of a cool era for fiberglass in my opinion, but boats from that era really a dime a dozen. Now, 40 years later, who knows what kind of modifications have been made to 'em by the various owners.

If it's in good shape, and ya' wanna' work on it - have at it and make it the way you want it.

Post some pictures up when you get a chance ...

I like the lift out dock side seats (called In or Out seats) offered in 1960 Glastrons tool:

SA: How about some pix of this Mariner?

He,He...yeah the seating is pretty cool.....but all the upholstery and foam is shot. It's the father in-laws project...I'll handle the electrical and mechanical...the rest he's on his own! I just finished a three month job on my own boat ...and it was mint compared to this one!

Caveman....I'd say the tape player is junk! Already scoped it out. Everything is rusty and stuck. Boat sat outside uncovered for years! Otherwise I would have already scarfed it up! ;)
