I was raised on the Missouri River near St Joe MO and have longed for those muddy waters since I moved away in '87. Now I live 30 miles from my old friend and want to buy a boat so we can get re-aquainted.
I found a 17' Spectrum Dominator aluminum bass boat with a '94 40 hp Force that has power trim, trolling motor, pedistal seats, storage, livewell, bilge, built in fuel cell, newer Quick Silver controls, teleflex steering, Eagle fish finder, Sharkskin bimini top, 2 alum. props. Boat/motor/trailer are all 1994 models. The boat has in/outdoor carpet over the aluminum deck. Asking price is $3000. This looks like the boat I'd like to run on the river but don't know much about Spectrum or Force. I have no experience with these makers/models. I used a 16' Lowe flat bottom jon with a 25 hp Merc. during my years running the river. It was light but powerful enough for me to handle myself as I often went with my best dog. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? I need durablity and dependablity as I will be taking my 74 year old mother with me frequently so she can paint on canvas.

Well, either you bought it, or someone else did, the CL posting has been removed.

I was going to say----- It won't be a speed demon, and not the best "open water" boat, but should make a decent river boat.
