OK, found this one on ebay. It happens to be about 2 miles from my house. It does seem to be missing a foot pedal. But, if I cannot find a used foot pedal, I can work my way around it. Because they are saying pickup only it will have fewer bids, because non locals cannot get it. From veiwing picture 5, I infered that it has some sort of maximizer. Though this is on the lower side of my power decision, it should work fairly well. And, once I can afford a better one, this could be used just for the grumman or any other smaller boat I happen to have at that time.

A foot control for a PD is no simple device. It would probably be cheaper to put a Co-Pilot on it.

It does have the quick release plate so that's a good thing. Takes about 5 seconds to remove the motor for inside storage. I don't think the co-pilot will work on this motor as the side panels are very different than current models. E-mail TwinCityOutboards to see if they have a foot control. They specialize in older outboards and anything marine. They generally have a mountain of outboards in the back yard.

If I were to pop on there with a battery, how would I test it w/o the foot control? I am unfamiliar w/ electric steer trolling motors. All I have had was grampas two speed hand controlled 10 # thrust.

Re: Mighta found one.

while looking on ebay for a wired remote i came across these if never seen anything like them
Yeah, I have seen those. In person as a matter of fact. My lund came from lanier marine liquidators. They sell mainly old trashed stuff at unreasonably high prices. You have to be lucky to come out of there with a good deal. They have had that pair on ebay since may. They still havent sold. They are intended to be used on larger boats in elec. motor only lakes.

I forgot about the MK corded remote. It plugs into the same connector as the foot pedal. About 99 bucks though.

I popped in to look at it today. Couldn't test it though. other than some color fading, everything seems to be alright. As for the control, if I can not find a used one, I don't mind spending a little bit on one if I can get this cheap. The overall price would still be the less.

Re: Mighta found one.

My dad still wants to pop in with a battery and test it. How will I test it without the foot control? Will I be able too? If I were to go back, is there anything specific I should look for? The mounting bracket is the older version made of aluminum. It is missing its bottom half. But, because it is that style, I can easily fabricate the bottom peice. I have emailed twin city outboards and hornes marine salvage to find a foot control. Anything else I should look for?

Unless he is electrically savy and able to determine which pin does what in the connector, he may make some sparks. I would be very careful trying to run this motor without the control.

Im not 100% sure that would work, because that is the same petal hat i have on my PD V2 when the one you are looking at is a PD P1

Re: Mighta found one.

Better yet, we went back to the ebay store so my dad could see it as he was at work yesterday. We talked to the store owner and he said that the guy selling it was cleaning out his storage unit and cannot find the pedal, but it supposedly went into the storage unit at the same time as the motor. So, if the guy finds it he will send it to the winning bidder.

If you still wanna test that ebay one and you can pop off the powerhead cover there are 4? wires that go down the shaft. You can unplug them (they are spade connectors) and hook them to a battery. I did this once when testing a trolling motor i picked up that someone was throwing out. It ender up only having a bent shaft and working.

It ends about noon tomorrow. I am in school and my dad is at work so we no longer have a chance to test it. Plus, I doubt the store owners would approve of us taking the cover off and messing with the wires.

Dadgummit, lost it. We always wait till the last second to place our bid so know one else can outbid us. Well, moms cannection froze. Why can't she use firefox? She still is using explorer and her computer is the one that always gets the viruses.

Next time use esnipe. It puts in the bid at the last second for you.
