Re: Mildew Attack!!!!

That's a really nice set up you have for your pontoon boat. I rent my place so I can't set it up that way. I had to clear the woods open to back my boat into the clearing. Not on level ground.Very hard to put tarp over boat single handed. As much as I hate to do it, is go to a marina and have them store the boat and put the boat in the water for me. Let them worry about the mildew and loading and unloading.

Magic Eraser, wet with a water/bleach solution. Mildew gone. No advice on how to keep it from coming back other than try and stay on top of it. I would kill for a car port setup like you have!

Just thought I would post that I tried exactly that (water, bleach, and a shot of dishwashing detergent w/ a magic eraser) and it got 99% of the mildew stains with minimal effort. I followed it up with some 303 protectant and the boat hasn't looked this good for quite some time. Me and the wifey tag teamed it - I started with the bucket of bleach and water and scrubbed while she had a bucket of just clean water and a terry cloth towel. I scrubbed a seat, let it sit for just a few minutes and she went behind me wiping it down to get the bleach off. We let it dry out real good, even though we didn't get the seats real wet at all doing it this way, and then gave it a good coating of 303. Thanks for all the input!!!!!!

I am trying a product called mold armor from home depot. its a non bleach, spray on let it sit 5 to 10 minutes and the mold is gone, no scrubbing, and flush off with water. I have a few small spots that popped up and wanted to stop it if I can, and so far it did as advertized, Its says it will kill it for 3 months.

I tried that stuff and it didn't help. I guess I needed a touch of bleach. I hated to put bleach on the seats, but I think I exhausted every other option. It came out great though. I spent a few hours winterizing it today. I am picking up a new water separator tomorrow and then it will get tucked away for a couple months.
