Mildewy Life Jackets?

Anybody know of a good way to get the spots off of life jackets? If I leave them stored in the boat for any length of time, they tend to get mold/mildew type spots on them. Is bleachwater too much to use on them? I don't wanna go to grab 'em one day and find the threads have turned to dust.

The only thing that I know to do is take them out of the boat when your not using them to prevent that from happening. you can always try scrubbing the h#@# out of them with your laudry det.and a good stiff scrub brush and try putting them in the washing machine one at a time, If you didn't get out all mold you might have to by new and take them out when your not using them. I have hangers in the garage and hang them up. Good luck !!

The best way to keep them from mildew is not store them in the boat. I used to keep them in the house when not using them but one day i got 3 hours away to the ramp and relized i did not have them with me.

most marine stores sell jacket bags that hold 4 - 6 jackets, remove them from the boat. the coast guard, and authorities will ticket you for mildewed jackets as not safe. try some comet cleaner. and rinse well.
